Day 3: Get Away for the Weekend

Oftentimes, when I think of a retreat, I think of planning an extensive trip overseas or cross country paired with spa services and much relaxation. While this is definitely one way that I can retreat and help others in their planning, I am also a fan of weekend retreats--getting away for a bit of R&R.

Most recently, I took a getaway to St. Simon's Island. The 1-hour and 30-minute drive makes it ideal for a preferred getaway. Not to mention, this quaint seaside town offers numerous accommodations on the beach. While I'm there, I allow myself to be "off-the-grid." Daily beach walks, bike rides, and soaking up the sun, provide a perfect getaway. I also move to the pace of the coastal rhythms through leisurely shopping, lots of book reading, and sunset viewing.

Wherever you reside, do a bit of research and find a town that you can retreat to for a night or a weekend. Perhaps spontaneously take the trip. Regardless, carve time out in your calendar to have a couple of weekend getaways a year. Your mind, body, and spirit will thank you.

Where do you go to get away for a weekend retreat? Where do you plan for your next one to be?
